Ang Lee breaks through again with a masterful adaptation of Eileen Chang’s short narrative, Lust/Caution (like what he did with Annie Prolux’s similarly brief epic, Brokeback Mountain) . While the hype seems to be mostly misplaced on the controversial acrobatics displayed by Tony Leung and Tang Wei in bed, Lee’s storytelling leaves one breathless.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Lust, Caution! Click Here

The treasure anecdote unfolds against the backdrop of 1930’s Japanese-invaded Shanghai where tyranny and suffering were synonymous. Nubile Wang Jia Zhi played by Tang Wei joins the resistance movement and gets herself drawn into the role of a ogle to crumble the traitor, Mr Yee. In between the espionage and wild climatic trysts, both of them unknowingly embroil themselves in adore and deceit, considerable deeper than they would have liked themselves to.

Tang Wei, as a newcomer to cinema, is impeccable. Her evolution from a wide-eyed country girl to a seductive temptress is enough to create the hardest of most men, in this case, the distrusting Mr. Yee descend for her. Wei acts attractive remarkable on instincts and her body language does wonders at seducing the somewhat vulnerable Mr. Yee played by multiple-award winner Tony Leung. Wei breaks down in the memorable scene where she’s talking to the resistance leader on her unyieldingly sacrificial role that is both a torment and insidious attack to her emotions.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Lust, Caution! Click Here

As usual, Tony has the penchant for playing sad brooding men and in this instance, an contemptible Chinese traitor. He does not act. His presence already commands attention as the cynical no-nonsense minister. The pivotal sex scenes, split into three parts, are not honest there for visual enhancement. They actually thunder the shift in roles between the two throughout their complex relationship. The raw emotions displayed on their faces were enough to convince anyone hard-hearted to deem twice about the essence of cherish. I must say these are some of the best bed scenes you’ll ever inspect on film.

Of course, the supporting cast of Joan Chen as Mrs Yee and Wong Lee-Hom as Tang Wei’s resistance compatriot, Kuang Yu Min, is every bit objective as spectacular. In the raze, the chronicle about cherish is bittersweet. You’ll also observe how keen the resistance movement, which puts the enemy above self and others, was through Wang Jia Zhi’s eyes. Lust Caution is 157 minutes’ of rewarding examine that will linger on in your minds well after the credits roll. (A+)

I saw this movie twice in the theater - very recent for someone as famous of movies as I am. The first time I went by myself, and the second time I took my husband, who was not initially alive to in the myth line (espionage and all) . He also liked it a lot (though he did not have as remarkable of a personal connection as I did with the film) . I was like in a zone for a few days after I saw the movie. It really shook me to the core in a sense. A very remarkable movie in and of itself, it moves me particularly because I am orinigally from China and Eileen Chang was one of my faovrite writers when I was a teenager book worm. Having grown up surrounded by the communisit propaganda, I found it refreshing to explore a movie so artfully done to earn a theme about care for, sexuality and loyalty. It shows how innocent and ignorant the young revolutionaries could be (something that was obviously omitted from our history lessons) . This is a movie about worthy human emotions, like all the other movies directed by Ang Lee. I’m also gay to seek Ang Lee sticking to making movies based on well-behaved, solid stories, instead of falling into the ‘glitz overriding story’ trap like so many other talented Chinese directors, Zhang Yimou and Cheng Kaige specifically.

Ang Lee said that he made this film for the Chinese audience, but I also read that he was disappointed by the fact that the Chinese media focused predominantly on the raw, sex scenes. I can understand his frustration. I wonder really how the mainland Chinese will embrace such a epic. Eileen Chang was never a Communist writer. In the book and the movie, the revolutionaries were referred to as ‘the people from Chongqing.’ As the Nationalist Party was based in Chongqing at the time (and the Communists in Yan’an), the revoluntionaries in the book were not Communinist members but Nationalists. That sort of contradicts everything we have learned in history lessons about the Communisit being the main heroes fighting against the Japanese and the Nationalists (the Kuomingtang) being wimpy traitors. Because of these reasons, I doubt mainland China will allow the movie to be shown in public.

But it doesn’t mean the Chinese will be denied access to this graceful film, thanks to the illegal DVD pirating industry. My sister-in-law in China has already bought the film (for a dollar) and watched it. Comical thing is she had very similar reaction to it as I did. My brother said she wouldn’t talk to him for a few hours.

I disagree with some critics who called Ang Lee ‘indecisive’ in directing the movie. I deem everything was very deliberately done and Ang Lee was very certain on what he planned to do with the narrative. He said that it was one of his approved stories written by Eileen Chang. I say if you don’t like the sage (such as some other reviewers), you wouldn’t like the movie. But to me, the tale can be interpreted in many ways, and Ang Lee has done a lustrous job conveying what Eileen Chang wanted her sage to verbalize. The sex scenes (not in the book) are integral to the anecdote, as Eileen Chang wrote, “If the path to a man’s heart is through his stomache, then the path to a woman’s heart is through her v….” The movie is certainly not for the faint of heart.

By the device, the soundtrack is pleasing. I downloaded it from iTunes. Before I receive the DVD in the mail, the soundtrack will do. (But I wouldn’t want a Chinese film that’s dubbed in English. That’s a crime. I’m buying it from somewhere else.)

For as long as I can remember, this film, a.k.a. Can Que, has had a deep impact on my concept towards Martial Arts Cinema. I’m distinct anyone would agree the fight choreography, space, and lighting are all superectile. Philip Kwok’s portrayal of a man who loses his eyesight to Tu Chan (played marvelously by Feng Lu) nearly brought me to tears. His slump towards a higher awareness employing his other senses erupts in an all out spectacular training sequence with Retard (supremely acted by Sheng Chiang) . The films climactic destroy is the lengthy battle between the avenging cripples and superectal antagonist Tu Tin Tao (Kwan Tai Chen) showcasing the acrobatic abilities of all these sparkling gentlemen. If you have nothing better to do today, go out and take this DVD up immediately.

A five star kung-fu movie, it even has a location. Video quality is acceptable. Audio sounds like a mono report. DVD version is marvelous to the video version and a must pick for legal fans of this genre.

This was one of those books that I knew was going to upset me but I had to read it. Ms. Wolf makes a strong case that we are at the brink of losing our democracy; it is justifiable to compare the new neo-conservative movement in America to past repressive regimes. Some of her points:

Buy,Download, Or Stream The End of America: Director’s Cut! Click Here

Black Water, the vigilante group with billions of dollars in their war chest has the ability to purchase down third world governments and yet owes no allegiance to our constitution.

Countless laws have been broken by our White House and yet no one is held accountable (illegal wire tapping of Americans; misleading Americans into the Iraqi war; torture; outing a CIA agent for political gain; etc.)

Buy,Download, Or Stream The End of America: Director’s Cut! Click Here

Corporations controlling all our media and therefore the wobble of information “We The People” receive.

The tampering of our free elections (voter machine fraud, the Supreme Court illegally over riding our democracy and appointing George Bush President; the selective removal of Americans from voting lists; etc.)

Ms. Wolf’s point is that these attacks are done boldly and deliberatly to frighten and intimidate Americans into doing nothing.

I found this book to be most repugnant because most Americans aren’t even aware that there is a jam. There is a deliberate proceed in this country to wipe out middle class America (unaffordable educatuion, the extinguish of pensions, the attempt of President Bush to convince Americans that Social Security is bad; unaffordable health insurance, etc.) I hope this DVD release acts as a wake up call to all Americans.

I disapprove the Bush administration as powerful as anyone, thank god he’s outta there, but this film is unbiased plot too biased. I had a feeling that the author was cherry picking events and give it her maintain interpretation that supports a vastly biased agenda, she’s certain to paint the Bush administration as atrocious as Hitler’s Nazis reign. While I do mediate that it was a plain, insensitive administration and had a ghastly arrive to how it would govern this country and poorly weaved its representation to the rest of the world, I don’t assume they were as snide as the film portrayed them to be. It was stretching it a bit too far, and that downplayed its credibility a bit for me. Even though I wanted to like it, my skepticism changed only a cramped by the time the movie was over.

However, there were expedient moments in the film though, and I found myself nodding along side it at definite parts. I wouldn’t say that this is a “must-see”, but it’s definitely more thought-provoking and spirited than your average small-town theater flick.

Not clear why all the attention was on Blackwater while Dick Cheney’s Halliburton got off scotch-free, and it was objective as shady as Blackwater, if not more.

Commentary by director Gavin Hood

Extras:

1. Roots of Wolverine an Conversation with Stan Lee and Len Wein: To me a Droll and X-Men fan this one 16 tiny short is worth the grasp label alone. Stan Lee and Len Wein talking about the birth of X-Men and Wolverine and a lot of slight know background in the whole genre. Your player will say 2 chapters but there is only one.

2.Wolverine Unleashed: The Complete Origins well worth it this has a lot of on site interview like planning and setup and slack the scenes footage.

3.Deleted and alternate scenes: You can play all or each individually and with or without commentary by director Gavin Hood. It’s worth a recognize, unprejudiced sign that there are only four of these a. Young Storm, b. Victor at the boxing ring, c. Alternate Memory Erase and d. Japanese Bar scene.

4. Anti-Smoking PSA, Ok, what the heck is this? My curiosity got the best of me and I unbiased had to click on this exiguous gem! It’s unbiased a 30 second bubble blowing short against smoking. Everyone is going around blowing bubbles and you can watch where the bubbles go that’s were smoke would probably go too.

The Digital Copy

I set the Digital Copy disk in my novel 13-inch 2.13GHz MacBook running Snow Leopard. And objective like the directions say double-click on the transfer to iTunes. iTunes 9 boots. I’m anticipating something and… nothing considerable happens. I survey around for more instructions and click on movies and nothing. I can’t come by the disk to copy download or play. Ok so I assume it must be something to do with Snow Leopard. So I capture the Digital Copy disk over to my 24inch iMac running reliable broken-down pleasurable Leopard 10.5.8 and same thing! I really don’t peer how to continue.

So I try calling Apple Technical assist maybe they have some tips and they are telling me it should ask for a serial number fair away but it never does that I can whine.

Then I contacted Fox Digital Transfer tech encourage at foxdigitalcopy@orderassistance.com as ask for assistance.

Then I go to the succor web page for Mac users at […] and regain out I needed to explore for the DVD icon on the left side of the iTunes window under Devices then capture then it you enter the code inside the DVD case on the Digital Transfer disk instructions and click on Redeem. Guess I’m unbiased an used and out of touch but once I knew where to recognize it was so definite!

After that the transfer commence and only took about 5 minutes and it was ready to play. The image looks unprejudiced Ok on my 24inch iMac but I’m definite will view grand better on a iPod Touch and it does gape better on the 13inch MacBook. When I score a iPod Touch or iPhone I will post an update.

I also have a Blackberry Storm and hope to glean it up and running with the movie but no luck so far.

So then I downloaded it to my 13inch MacBook with Snow Leopard and all went well now that I knew where to study. When you play it first time it asks for authorization from iTunes then tells you how many computers you have left you can download it to. You acquire up to 5 different ones.

The Movie Review:

Wolverine (Logan) is without doubt my current X-Men character. And so it was with huge anticipation I started watching X-Men Origins Wolverine.

Warning spoilers ahead

And now the movie, I care for the begin the childhood even if a limited cheesy it fills things in. And then we have the conclude motion battle scenes as they fight wars through time which are impartial dead astounding with each scene stopped at a perfect visual moment.

The visuals throughout the movie are splendid and a lot of work must have gone into being on dwelling.

However with that said it’s a shame some of the lame lines and awful script writing accumulate in the contrivance of how awesome Hugh is at playing Wolverine! The man unbiased can do no unpleasant! He’s awesome and if you have already seen the other X-Men movies you know what I mean if not you are in for a treat.

Most of the other main cast members do a ample job as well: Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Kitsch all do a substantial job with what they have to work with and especially Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth who is impartial awesome! Will.i.am seems a limited fresh to acting but I assume he may win better and better. The actual spot for me is some of the side bit actors are so horrifically dreadful they almost sound like they are unprejudiced reading their lines.

But now we gain into a confusing memoir line and unprejudiced when the interaction between Hugh and Lynn Collins heats up we ruin her off. What the heck? She’s astonishing for the short time her recent character is in the movie but advance ON! Beget in the characters give them some depth. It’s almost like Lynn is fair there long enough so we become attached before she dies.

After Lynn’s brief share we head into the making of the indestructible Wolverine and the visuals are one again awesome!

The action however is sometimes design over the top like the helicopter blade cutting scene with parts at time speeding up. But at times some amusing items such as Wolverine learning to control his blades and cutting the weak farmers sink work well. But parts like the fight with the corpulent guy in the ring are impartial too worthy and bring the movie down fair as it seems to be on its feet.

Some parts in the middle of the movie almost feels like it’s either trying to become a B movie it certainly doesn’t consume its self seriously.

But then Wolverine cuts loose the prisoner mutants loose and the final battle begins which is actually pleasing wintry and more then makes up for the middle.

Plus a surprise guest at the very demolish.

Be determined to withhold the movie going at the destroy as there is a second amusing ending in the middle of the credits engaging Col. Stryker.

World Premiere Event:

Last but not least I had the wonderful experience of attending and photographing the cast at the red carpet event X-Men Origins World Premiere. If I could rate this separately it would have been 5 stars!

Seeing Hugh Jackman slip up to the event on the same Harley he rode in the movie was well worth the hours of waiting in and of itself. I could have reached out and touched him as he rode by.

All the main stars were there including: Hugh Jackman, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Liev Schreiber, Lynn Collins and Will.i.am. Even director Gavin Hood attended.

And speaking of sexy Lynn Collins, she is out of this world looking even prettier in the flesh then on the DVD. Too awful she had so runt time in the movie.

In fact trying to record what the Premiere was like I secure words fair can’t do it justice so click on the link below to peep photos I took during the X-Men Wolverine Premiere at […]

In the coming days I will be adding more as I glimpse through all the suppose over commentaries.

Verdict:

In the destroy I am contented I bought the movie it does believe in some missing areas of Logan’s life and Wolverine’s creation and if you are a die hard fan of the series its well worth the stamp.

As a female fan I thoroughly relish the actions parts. You could train that’s where the money, and attention by the allotment of writers, director and producers (yes you, Jackman) went. I’ll definitely catch the DVD as many female fans are–for the Peer Candy! I adore that Jackman is not so stout of himself and that his first solo X-men flick–he spread the hottness around. I don’t know if he did this because, he feels more comfortable in a group ensemble; or because he honest rather give another actor a hand up. Nevertheless, in this movie you accept to perceive more characters and a lot, A LOT of Radiant Men.

LADIES Choose NOTE:

Ryan Reynolds stands out as Deadpool–so distinguished that a spin-off is in the works. His typical smarta$$ mouth comedy makes his one liners really zing. And the man can swing a pair of swords, and scrutinize bada$$ doing so.

Also, a lesser known Korean American actor/model Daniel Henney as weapons expert Agent Zero, makes his first appearance on a US movie. He’s mostly known for Korean TV, Cinema and modeling. Yet in this flick, his supermodel looks work in his favor as he brings an icey engaging demeanor that earn him one to bewitch mark of–and makes fans like me pray for a Agent Zero spin-off. His action sequence at the beginning of the film left me wanting more.

Friday Night Lights star Taylor Kitsch as Gambit was a great crowd pleaser in Funny Con, and he delivers on the mammoth camouflage. This one might also have a spin-off in the future. The ladies distinct appreciate him and the guys seemed gay with his bid of the gambler as well.

Howevery I agree completely with other reviews. The space was feeble, and they didn’t interpret worthy about Logan’s past (which was the purpose of the movie) . We kind catch a inspect and rapid urge through and the rest is all Mumble! BAM! POW! All in all the movie was worth my money. I got a mountainous night out with friends and a lot to drool over for. Thank you Jackman for all that nakedness! *shivers* I am totally aloof hoping this movie does well on DVD release. Cuz Jackman’s such a salubrious guy that he deserves it.

I hope in the upcoming spin-offs they do focus a bit more on the set. Impartial a wee more than they did on this one. Cuz altho they might have felt the male droll geeks would admire all the Enlighten! BAM! POW! actions stuff, and female geeks would worship all the nakedness and sexy…Sexy Men, we’d also would like a better narrative line to bring it all together. I reflect that’s what made the X-men flicks work and do so well, so I hope they go wait on to that arrangement in future installments.

I found this DVD tedious. I had expected to ogle sincere games, not honest snippets of a mountainous shot or vast dribbling here and there. This DVD spends method too great time showing people remembering the GlobeTrotters and not enough time showing exact play (and beloved Globetrotter antics) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Harlem Globetrotters - The Team That Changed the World! Click Here

Very disappointing (unless you are a history buff) .

The history aspects of this DVD are okay and hide the main issues with the Trotters, especially with the 1948 Lakers game, the 1952 Berlin Game with Jesse Owens, and the Trotters station in history. However, they could have included some profiles on the classic Trotters such as Goose Tatum, Meadowlark Lemon, Geese Ausbie (who is interviewed) and WHAT? Nothing on the beloved Curly Neal? Like hot dogs without the weenies!

These items would have made superb extras, along with some stuff from the HG cartoons of 1970 for a complete portrait.

…Kubrik masterminded Dr. Strangelove, loosely basing the movie upon the book “Red Alert” (the book is a completely serious Frigid War nuclear war scenario, but Strangelove is a complete and total farce) . “Strangelove” came out a year or two after the Cuban October missile crisis, a year after US President John Kennedy was assassinated as well as 2 other contemporaneous films, the colorful and paranoid “The Manchurian Candidate” and the serious treatment of the same book, “Fail First-rate.”

Kubrik originally place out to do a serious treatment of the book. But Kubrik found as he tried to compose the screenplay that he kept running into scenes that he ended up writing as satire. Recognizing the challenge, Kubrik enlisted the talents of one of the best comedic screenwriters in Hollywood, Terry Southern, to do the screenplay.

Casting the film was section genius and portion hit-and-miss ecstatic accident. … Somehow Slim Pickens’ name came up and Pickens approved the role of the B-52 bomber pilot. Even more ironic yet, Slim Pickens was more conservative than Dan Blocker, but Pickens never caught on during the film’s production that Dr. Strangelove was a comedy, powerful less a satire and a farce unsympathetic to the official propaganda of the cool war.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb! Click Here

In of itself, it was a laughable master stroke telling Pickens play the role seriously. Pickens was apparently no huge wit, so Kubrik was able to sustain Pickens completely unaware that Pickens was actually playing in a comedy, not a serious war movie (one can only hold that the humor of the place was not lost on the other cast members, including James Earl Jones who played Capt. Kong’s bombardier.. “Don’t teach Slim this is all a mammoth joke, we have to let him believe this is a valid war movie.” ) .

Other than Peter Sellers’ roles, George C. Scott (later in “Patton”) and Generous Hayden delivered memorable performances. Both were obviously instructed to play their roles “over the top.” Kubrik instructed Scott to overact the role of the cigar-smoking, gut-slapping, martini-drinking & womanizing General Buck Turgidson (gather it? Turgid-son? ) . In the scene in the war room where Turgidson exuberantly proclaims the spectacle of a B-52 bomber evading radar by hedge-hopping, Kubrik instructed George C. Scott to deliberately overact the fraction. Kubrik had Scott re-take the scene several times, asking Scott to get it even more over-the-top than before. On the last lift of that scene, Scott practically performed it as a burlesque parody, which was of course, the final win that Kubrik actually musty.

Sterling Hayden delivered a vivid performance as the psychotic Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper, the Air Force general who unilaterally orders the nuclear strike against the USSR. The confusion of Chilly War paranoia, paranoid psychosis and groundless sexual power in Hayden’s scenes is the blackest of dim satire. Totally over the top, ludicrous and frightenlingly possible (what if one of your top military brass really went insane and over-rode all the safe-guards against nuclear war? ) . The insane babblings of General Ripper location the film’s direction and act as its centerpiece, delivering both Kubrik’s satire of anti-communist propaganda and the air of impossible odds for the rest of the film’s characters to overcome that they might somehow avert doomsday.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb! Click Here

Peter Seller’s performances as the President, the British officer and Dr. Strangelove (a left-over Nazi scientist) are memorable, Sellers delivers the title role as the deranged wheelchair-bound Nazi scientist who suffers from involuntary palsied “Seig Hiels!” in his honest arm. Again sex is the staunch underlying motive to yet another character and the opportunities for a sexually prodigious post-apocalyptic eugenic world brings the deranged Strangelove to a frenzied outburst of libidinal energy: “Mein Fuhrer! I can vwalk!” But as mighty as I devour Sellers’ roles, they seem overshadowed by the rest of the film’s characters. P>It comes probably of no surprise that the U.S. Air Force refused to encourage Kubrik in shooting the movie. Having to choice, Kubrik had to resort to mocking up the B-52 flying scenes and bomber interior cabin scenes as best he could (the bomber interior was apparently such a suitable replica of the accurate thing that the FBI launched an investigation into who gave Kubrik such a detailed layout of a B-52’s flight deck) . Appropriately, the exterior B-52 flying scenes have a funny flaw if you gawk closely enough: In one scene, as the damaged bomber hedge-hops across the Siberian taiga (northern boreal forest), you can glimpse that the underlying shadow of the plane is actually that of a four-engine propellor aircraft and doesn’t match the profile of the overlaid B-52 model.

Suffice it to say, when the movie came out, it was not universally received or even widely understood. It was drummed by political commentators and movie reviewers who found it to be tasteless and sophomoric. The studio was very concerned about the potential a negative backlash from its release (judge that in the same year, the Manchurian Candidate was withdrawn from theaters after Kennedy was assassinated) . An internal memo described Dr. Strangelove as “a great, sick malefic joke” and questioned the wisdom of even releasing the movie at all. After all, the movie starts off with B-52’s and tanker planes copulating during mid-flight refuelings, displays Air Force “Peace is Our Profession” billboards in the midst of a fire fight between the US Army and Air Force security, depicts two Air Force generals as complete sex-obsessed baffoons, one a psychotic and the other a braying ass, delivers a deranged Nazi scientist and finally a cowboy pilot bucking the biggest phallic bronco of his career (never mind blowing up the world) .

I can reflect of few other films whose film makers so defied convention and created a epic that really turned dilapidated wisdom on its head. Dr. Strangelove keeps coming at you as one horrible scene after another, interspersed with segments of complete straight-faced dead-pan, piling them all on until the fateful demolish. When Pickins died in 1983, CBS news anchor Dan Rather delivered the obituary replete with the out rob of Pickins riding the bomb (Perhaps DeForest Kelley topped that and made reliable on his threat to have “He’s plain, Jim” engraved on his tombstone….) .

There are some things you impartial can’t live down: Being the face that gets a huge closing falling scene that leads to the slay of all life on Earth happens to be one of those things. Terrible Slim, he’s probably suffering in a purgatory of a Liberal Methodist heaven.

In closing, I have to agree with that long-forgotten studio executive who wrote in the memo: Dr. Strangelove *IS* a stout, sick malefic joke. But it is one of the finest titanic, sick malefic jokes ever created, and stands as a film masterpiece. Those who extoll the virtues of this fil

I doubt that you could imagine how mighty it would damage me to give a single-star rating to an edition of the film I deem to be the singular greatest contribution to the motion relate. However, the current “40th Anniversary” edition of Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned To Terminate Worrying And Cherish The Bomb is, unquestionably, requiring of such a rating. Why?, you ask.

If you steal a survey, you will spy that this recent “Special” edition of Dr. Strangelove is presented in anamorphic widescreen, with a 1.66:1 aspect ratio. This, as you can come by from examining older editions of the film, is the first time the film has ever been presented in such a manner. The reason why (and you may cross-check this with the Internet Movie Database [IMDb] or any book on Stanley Kubrick worth its salt) is because Dr. Strangelove was NOT FILMED in 1.66:1. It was technically filmed with a varying aspect ratio (the reasons for which are aloof not fully explicated, as far as I’ve seen), but, in general, it was filmed in about 1.33:1.

So, you ask, how does a film shot in 1.33:1 secure presented in 1.66:1? Did someone return to the unusual negative and declare material previously hidden from inspect, lost on every print and VHS, Beta, laserdisc and DVD copy heretofore released?

NO!

They simply slash off the top and bottom of the conceal!!!

Such things are not unprecedented. An extremely similar case is the so-called “panoramic” Gone With The Wind. The film, made in 1939 (before there was anything BUT 1.33:1, the “Academy” aspect ratio), when released in the Panavision/Technorama age of the mid-1960’s was similar chopped and changed to magically become 2.35:1. This edition was released on video and DVD a few times before, finally, it was restored to its new 1.33:1 glory.

Stanley Kubrick was absolutely noted for his perfectionism and auteur site in the film industry, and I cannot maintain that a company proposing to release a definitive “Special” edition of his greatest masterpiece would be so heartless as to unnecessarily delete a sterling part of the camouflage.

Please avoid this unusual, bastardized Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned To Halt Worrying And Treasure The Bomb. While the few unique extras thereon are of interest, they can easily be seen via rental from the local video store, as suplemental to the last “Special Edition” of the DVD (which, incidentally, clearly states on the encourage that it is “Presented in the unique aspect ratio of approximately 1.33:1″.

Thank you,

Marc-David Jacobs

P.S. For those of you keen in seeing the awful editing job for yourselves, feel free to go out and rent the unique edition and the previous edition and go to seven minutes and forty-eight seconds, which is the indecent tight shot of the B-52’s CRM-114 decoder book. As you will witness, an entire line of text on the top, and about one-and-a-half on the bottom are not completely missing.

A delectable film! Anthony Edwards is supported by a immense cast of characters including Robert Mitchum, Mary Stuart Masterson, Anjelica Huston, Lauren Bacall, Harry Dean Stanton, and Virgina Madsen. Based on a new by Thornton Wilder and directed by Danny Huston, the film, filmed on dwelling in Newport, Rhode Island, captures the charm and innocence of the 1920s. Anthony Edwards carries this film and makes the film, which would otherwise be simply mediocre, arrive to life. A charming film well worth watching.

Based on Thornton Wilder’s unusual THEOPHILUS NORTH, this is, in its contain peaceful method, a magical characterize. It’s about a young college man who gives off electrical charges from his body (an musty parlor trick) ; he comes to Newport one season early in the 20th century and begins to transform people. There is an exuberance and optimism that rub off on these stuffy summer people, and they open to reach to life in a procedure they’ve never experienced before. And, of course, there are those electrical charges, which some residents affirm to as having magical healing powers. As reality, this movie would never work, but it has a fairy memoir quality about it that transcends believability and allows us to unbiased bask in the proceedings. Definitely worth a notice.

conclusive.

The characters are inspiring and realistic; each with their own

personal beliefs, strengths, and weaknesses. So even if you’re

good at predicting plots like myself, this anime serene has lots

to offer.

And on a side label, the music is a amazing mix between the

hard rock and softer chants.

This anime really is a substantial sleeper hit that totally caught me by suprise. With an splendid mixture of dismay and teenagers with similar mutant like powers dropping plenty of action that you can’t pass up!

The net of the area is several students regain powers by being in the dismal space at the bad time and amongst them the one they behold as the weakest will soon become their greatest threat.

“Red River” deserves the adulation that critics, film scholars, and most importantly audiences have lavished on it since its premiere in 1948. One of the earliest “psychological” westerns, preceded by Selznick’s “Duel in the Sun” (1946) and followed by King’s “The Gunfighter” (1950), etc., “Red River” maintains interest after half a century due to the fresh tensions between its characters, and the supreme skill with which those characters are played. Situation against the backdrop of the first cattle drive along the Chisum Prance, the record basically boils down to an record conflict between two men of different generations. John Wayne is the older sharp-shooter who builds up an empire through ruthless wiles and steely determination; Montgomery Clift, who is equally proficient with a gun, is the young surrogate son who tends to manage through intellect and reason rather than violence. These two opposing personalities and styles eventually erupt into a mortal combat under the strain of driving over 9,000 head of cattle across the hostile terrain of Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

As the volatile Dunson, John Wayne gives one of his most finely nuanced performances. Living by a personal code of ethics which doesn’t always translate into suitable or even rational behavior, Wayne is neither sympathetic nor deplorable; he’s simply human. His performance is bolstered by the difference provided by the quietly charasmatic Montgomery Clift, whose unspoken adore and respect for Wayne’s father figure shine through the dread and intimidation he expresses. (Remarkably, this was Clift’s first performance in front of the movie cameras; the stage-trained actor seems to have adapted instinctively to the more subtle technique required of film work.) Various other characters reach between these two to get some memorable triangles throughout the film. Three-time Oscar winner Walter Brennan is fantastic as Wayne’s longtime sidekick whose allegiance eventually shifts over to Clift; Paul Fix also does a comely job in a minor role as the character whose fate jumpstarts the conflict between the two leading men. Most intriguing among the supporting cast is John Ireland who plays the curiously-named Cherry; the Freudian scene in which he and Clift esteem each other’s pistols, and then launch to shoot them off together is simply fantastic. It’s worth noting that Cherry is the first one to try and intervene during the climactic showdown between Wayne and the “son” he contemptuously characterizes as “soft”; equally necessary is the fact that the character who finally brings resolution into the movie is a “strong” woman (played by Joanne Dru) .

The MGM DVD release of this classic United Artists film is, in my humble view, awful. The source print is visually a trouble, chock stout of lines, jumps, flutters, speckles, and other visual noise. The grays are grainy and at one point, the portray even is briefly - and distractingly - out of focus. The sound isn’t great better: it crackles and pops and the volume is inconsistent. Adding insult to injury, there are no extras at all, not even cast biographies or production notes, remarkable less a theatrical trailer. This is one classic film that demands - and richly deserves - to be restored, remastered and repackaged.

Let it be known to one and all: “Red River” is one of the best Western movies of all time! It is a supperlative western film, telling the narrative of the first cattle drive from Texas to Abeline, Kansas, which would later be known as the Chisholm Crawl.

The American West is known for it’s rugged individualism, and starring in this anecdote film is Hollywood’s #1 rugged individual, John Wayne. Wayne plays Tom Dunson, who on a wagon gallop of settlers going west, decides to strike out on his enjoy for Texas country and do his maintain cattle ranch. In leaving the wagon hiss slow, Dunson also leaves slow the treasure of his young life, saying he will send for her when he finds his homestead. But that same day, the wagon assure is attacked by Indians, and his adore is brutally killed. The only survivor of the massacre is a attractive young boy, who is found wandering in a daze with his cow. The boy, Matthew Garth, is adopted by Dunson. The stage is then spot for the remainder of the memoir, the struggle to keep the greatest cattle ranch in Texas, and the massive cattle drive to fetch the cattle to market.

Howard Hawks directs this masterpiece of filmmaking, and takes Borden Chase’s (Saturday Evening Post) serialized storyline, and spins a visual saga of obsession and rivalry between Dunson and and his adoptive son Matthew Garth. The film co-stars Montgomery Clift as Matthew Garth. The cast is very favorably rounded out with the addition of Walter Brennan, Joanne Dru, and John Ireland. The film’s musical find by Dimitri Tiomkin is as perfectly collected for the old-fashioned west as the murky and white rendering of the western barren landscape in the film.

It is Dunson’s dictatorship determine to gain the cattle to market that eventually leads to the supreme conflict in the film, the battle of wills between father and son. Matthew Garth is forced by dire circumstances to lead a mutiny against the tyrannical Dunson, and remove the herd to Kansas, leaving Dunson alone in the wilderness. Dunson, stung by the perceived betrayal of his adopted son, promises to get up with Garth, and raze him. The film’s climax is the showdown between Dunson and Garth, on the streets of Abeline.

This is a film that you will indulge in watching for the first time, and for many times afterward. It is one of Wayne’s best films, and the film that established him as a Hollywood western film icon. John Ford, a stop friend of Waynes, and a premier director of his time, commented upon seeing Wayne dominate the film: “That son of a bitch can really act!”; perhaps the highest accomplish of praise Ford ever gave.

If I had to recommend one western film, this is the one I’d determine.

Part 2 of Nip/Tuck season Five is only sightly better (less chaotic, and not as uninteresting) than Allotment 1 (which i would rate 2/5) . It is quite murky how far this exhibit has fallen. If you are a hardcore fan of the present, purchase this station up, if not, leave it alone.

I’m here not to complain about designate, but the quality of the present. Season five was a mixed bag of inane tale lines, many stretches of record and region were it fair came of as “No they didn’t do that…how expressionless!!” This season suffered design more than a lot of other crazy/zany/impossible sort of Nip Tuck-esque storylines. Season 5 of Nip Tuck wasn’t that huge. Too many topics were a approach….a immense time near that made the point to unwatchable at times. Stick to seasons 1-3 and perhaps some of #4 if you want classic, unusual, Nip Tuck.
