Maclaren Flagship B-01 to Triumph Strollers

mystery shopper

The first stroller was designed and built in 1965 by a retired aeronautical designer, Owen Maclaren, and made its way to the production line in 1967. With the first light weight buggy weighing at only 6lbs and folded to the size of an umbrella it was truly a remarkable innovation for that era. Strollers today boast a lot more features now than the B-01 ever did back in the sixties, due to safety concerns and over time with advanced technology.

It just seems amazing that even after all this time the strollers made today are virtually copies from this very first design, the only thing that separates them apart are the features.

The typical features today on one of Owens strollers is the 5 point harness, total child safety with two straps that work down from the shoulders to join another two at the hips that get connected to one more strap that comes up from the crotch. A removable washable seat for good easy cleaning and hygiene, shopping basket for easy storage when your out and about for those essentials. Compact umbrella fold, foot-operated parking brakes, water resistant hood, and a rain cover. It also boasts the 5 second one hand fold were by you hold baby with one hand and with the other hand fold the stroller, which they say can be done in 5 seconds.

Owen Maclaren would be pleased with the changes that have been put in place and i don’t think even he could ever for see the changes to come in “baby transport” by his one design, the very first model he called the B-01.
